VR6 air leak in the intake system

  • Since some time my car has been little hard to start and I have noticed a little higher gazoline consumption. I now think I have found the reason but I don't know what the part is called. It's located on the left side of the motor, just behind the aluminium part around 10x2o cm big (left of cylinder head). It is a round rubber thing, diam about 5 cm. it has a fron part with a smaller diameter. This is loose and taking in air. On this thing there is located a small hose which has a crimp hos fastener on it. What is this thing called and what system is it part of ( valve house vent?). Is it expensive. Is this problem seen often or could a good one at a Yank yard?

I will send you all German C-owners a good spring time and summer with your beatyful cars and a big thank for all the help you have given me! I hope I can come down and meet you on a "Treffen". You can see my name at "roos-tech.com" as a distributor for Sweden.

  • Why is it so difficult to get an answer? Is it because no one has an answer or is it difficult to understand or answer in English? It is OK to answer in German, I can get help to translate if I can't understand. Or is it that you don't want to answer because I'm not a german? Send me a line about this.

I'm quiet not sure which part you mean. Is it on the air intake part or directly on the motor?

If you could send a picture that would be very helpful, as well as for the others.

    Regards

  • Hallo

I think, the thing you mean is call "Luftmassenmesser" in german..
But I'm not sure. So it would be better, if you do, what CHCORRADO has written. Take a picture of the part, whose name you want to know. So it's easier for us to help you!

    so far..

  • No it's not "luft massenmesser", that is located after air cleaner. As I'm talking about air leak, it must be after the air throttle. I will take a photo, but I haven't understood yet how to iclude a photo in the letter. What is url?

  • Hallo

You can't link a photo directly to the forum. so you have to upload the photo on a "free webspace" such as pixum.de, etc..
than you can link the photo as url. url is the normal adress..

ok, so we'll wait, till the photo is online..

  • Here comes the photo you can look on. There you can see a "bindfaden". I have fastened it in the upper side in the thing that is broken and leaking. Again, what is it called and it is an expensiv part? Is this a regular fault? I have put the snore there to press it together to make the leak smaller. What is the aluminium part called that is below?
Click on "full storlek" (maximum size) above the photo to see best.

  • Hello

The Link you wrote doesn't work! Just write the complete(!) link.
Also on the HP of yahoo they wrote something about problems..
to make a link you don't need to use the img-command.. even if it's an image! important is only, where the image is to find (www)!
    so, next time, just write:
    http://www."example".etc...

  • What is the IMG button thought for? Anyway I now know more about the broken part. I have ETKA but I haven't been able to find this part. I was in to VW yesterday. They where 3 persons who looked for this part, looked at my car, but found out that this part is missing on ETKA. One was technician and could tell me what it is. It is in ventilation of crankhouse (correct word?). It is a one way valve, that now is broken. The metal house that this part is going into is a course filter stopping most of the oil from getting into the fuel intake. I also yesterday was to a car graveyard and looked on a AAA motor. This motor doesn't have this valve, only a hose that goes in to the filter, like the picture on ETKA.

  • do NOT talk about ET.. and also do NOT write that you have it in publicity .. it's forbidden.

And it's also forbidden to talk about that in this forum.

you have to use the URL-Button not the IMG (img is deaktivated in this forum) then insert the link to the .jpg or whatever file on the web.
