Anyone with DSG experience?

Not a Corrado related Q, but still though I'd ask here anyway.

Currently *considering* (not sure it will be) a new daily driver - 2006 Passat 3.2 with a DSG box (to my knowledge the 3.2 and 3.6 are only available with DSG's???).

The biggest "problem" I have with considering this car is the fact that it have the DSG and not a manual - as to me it seem like there have been lots of trouble (expensive) with the DSG/Mechatronic.

Anyone in here have any personal experience with it, and have VW "sorted" the problems with updates, or will/can they fail even after a replacement unit?.

And is there certain versions of it that have these problems.

The Passat I'm considering have about 50 000 km on the meter - but due to Norwegian taxes on big engines it's quite expensive - so wouldn't want to end up with a DSG bill on top of it all

haha! - my C is still a manual, the trouble I have though is that I'm looking for a newer Daily - preferable a Passat, and (sadly?) just loving the VR6 engine, so the only option is DSG.....lol....;)

Would like it to be 6T Manual - but I guess that's not possible thanks for the info
