I have a German bought 95 VR6. I now have got problems to turn on the headlights. When I press the switch twice inwards only the parking lights is on. You can also see on the switch that the green ring in the switch is lit, that indikate that parking lights is on, when headlight is on, this ring shall no be lit.
I then start to push the switch back and forth and suddenly the lights goes on. I sometimes manage to light them by snap the switch a little.
I don't think the problem is in the switch beacuse I have seen that if the lights are on and I stop the engine and starts the engine the lights are off again. I then think the reason can be a relay that is hard to get on.
Have anyone have experience of this?

if the light's sometimes go on, if you snap the switch a little, then it's clearly the switch i think.

But why shouldn't it be on when I turn the motor off and on without tuching the switch. I think I send a "pulse" when i'm snapping the switch with a finger. I have also managed to turn on the light bye tapping on realys and fuses with the backside of a screwdriver, but it's not easy and I don't see a special spot that it's responding on my tapping.

above the fuses there is no relay for the headlight's i mean there IS a relay, but i don't know where. Try to "simulate" the switch by testing the contacts with an cable and look what's happening
I also mean, if there IS a relay for the headlight's, there's one for the left and one for the right side ( like the fuses ), so i don't think, that these relay stops working simultaneously

I had the same problem.I think it was the switch.
I had this problem maybe for 1 month and after this time the problem was suddenly gone. I never had it again although I didn't do anything except spraying a little bit of Caramba inside.. -

it's no secret, that the light-switch is a little bit sensitive..
-
That's probably the reason why VW changed the switch after some time (Does the "newer" Corrado have a different switch?) and never used it again..

corrado95se has the new one, but i don't know if there's only the design changed or the complete switch

was the switch the problem?
Inside the switch ther are two triangular metal pieces that make the contact. These are moving when you push the button, one of them is for mainlight and one for parking. Each of them have three contact points. These points are pressed out of the metal so they make a round contact. The main light point was tored and burned down. I solved it bye finding a bronse pin with a round head. I drill the point out and riveted the cut off pin head on the contact. It looked like new and it worked perfect! Thanks for your help!
