Resonance has finally stopped! Not even a mild vibration can be noticed! The rear view mirror doesnt shake at all, its like all new car! Much easier to get moving or even changing gear. What did I do? I changed the rear hydraulic engine mount. And it wasnt even broken! Neither was the front mount but I replaced it anyway.

Too much delayed ignition should be noticed on the car behavior. Boost pressure drops when engine is knocking.

Strange 5 min system! But good to know. Because I've been wondering that earlier also. Just tried that Änder button, but it said somethind weird in German... Some one can clean up these messages if you want to clean this topic from off-topic discussion!

Interior filled with breather oil and the outside is covered with dirt, insects and all kind of filt. Is the car behaving like 160 hp Corrado should behave?
By the way, is there an Edit button somewhere so I could edit my writings instead of making a new posting??
Hmmm... actually I can edit this post, but I was not able to edit the previous??

Or maybe someone has removed intercooler from the front bumber or it is not working properly? That causes engine exhaust overheating.

Belt drive was checked. Tensioner spring and guidewheel was changed from spare part car. New belt, g-lader overhaul.
Also new hydraulic "valve lifters". New valve guide "rubbers" and new toothbelt and tensioner.
No change in anyway...Hopefully oil burning will be minimized, 10 000 km/4 litres it used to burn...

I forgot this forum...
It was not the exhaust the cause of the resonace. And the catalytic converter looks ok. I installed 2,5" diameter steel exhaust from kat to the end absorber and removed the middle absorber. The shake and rattle of dashboard is the same. I also measured the "cylinder pressure". Dont know what is called in english... Every cylinder had even result, c.a. 8,2 bar. (The thing when you remove sparkplug and push a meter to the hole and then use starter motor to rotate the engine few times).
What would be next place to look for? Bearings from crankshaft?
I also checked that counter weight was in place in the end of the crankaxle.
Flywheel misbalanced? Dont want to check this actually, too much work to remove the gearbox...and istall it back!

Hi again
What might be the best lenght for belt which operates the g-lader? Lader pulley diameter is 68 mm and the car is equipped with air conditioning Any idea? I believe that the belt is slipping and causing pressure loss. The tensioner spring is now in 84 mm lenght. Is it too slack?

I have been using this car for a year. But I dont stand this shaking no more. The best guess is the exhaust but I dont know for sure.
The pussy, the kat, i dont know for sure, but according to finnish "TUV" its alriguht! CO2,O2.....OK!!! -
I showed the engine to my car mechanic friend while giving some revs and he considered its movement normal. Which means that the engine mounts should be ok. I didnt try that 1 st gear stuff because I read it afterwards.
And when the rpms were about 3000 you could feel the shaking very well when I held the tip of the pipe in my hands. I rotated the pipe as much I could but the resonance did not change in any way. I also lifted it and pushed it down also.
Should there be some sort of flexible part before the kat? Could it be that some one has removed it and that causes the shaking? I dont remember what does it got between the exhaust manifold and kat.
I have to check the exhaust when I get this project finished first!

How do I diagnose if its the engine mounts that are causing this? What does a broken one look like? Can you tell from the outside or do I just have to replace it with a new one? 65€ is the price for the new engine front mount.
The car has 197 000 km on meter. But I dont now for sure is that the real truth. One of you guys might have played with my meter before it was brought to here in Finland. Some meter adjustiering or what do you call it?

Thanks for the quick reply! The car has been lowered - 50 mm, but the resonance was there before that, on the normal ride height. And it doesnt look like it has had contact with the rear axle. Have to check it when I begin of making the new exhaust pipe.
The drive shaft issue: The resonance can be ALSO noticed when the car is NOT on the move. You can feel mild tremors, shaking on you seat. When accelerating you can notice it MUCH better and hear. But when the tachometer shows over 3100 rpm, it is smooth, no vibrations.
And it doesnt make any noice it just shakes things and that causes the dash, panels and etc. make annoing rattle. The engine sounds normal also.
More ideas, suggestions?

Hello again
This resonance problem is quite annoying. G60 it is and it starts the minor vibration from 2500 rpm to 3100 rpm. Interior makes noice and you can feel it also in the seats when you sit. Its worst somewhere round 3000 rpm. What might be causing it?
My cars exhaust has a little rust holes in the middle absorber (surprise). Could that cause it or, is there known cause for it? Bearings, engines front rubber support, sylinders/pistons are worn out??? Please help me to stop the vibrations and resonance! -
Hello again
G60 is the car, lowered -50 mm with Eibach, 9x16 et 15 rimms with 215/40 tires. Does any of you guys know what would be the right amount of Camber angle in the front side of the car? After I installed the the new suspension the Camber was about (-)1,50 degrees per side. It was better to drive that way. Then I had a four wheel alignement test or what you call it? Mirrows were intalled to all wheels and Cambers and other things (caster, toe-in-out )were checked and reset. Cambers are now (-)0,25 per side. Is that too little?? After that the car became more restless. The car wants to go were the tiremarks, groove, are on the asphalt. Toe is set to 0,00m per side, is that normal??

Hello again.
The wheels arrived today from Germany. They weren´t quite like they were supposed to be. Two of them were supposed to be ok and the other two there were supposed to be minor scratches.... If you think (all four) whole rimms outer-circle is a scratched is ok what do you think the other two were like. One bigger dent and several nasty marks allover the rimms. Pathetic sight. No good.
Tires were ok, as they were promised Fulda Carat (5-6 mm surface left). The guy who sold/sent the rimms from south Germany said that they are easily repaired, right! Only sandpaper and a new coating is needed... Didn´t mention anything about the welding and re-straightenin is also required... perhaps after that sandpaper will to the trick. Came up a little bad taste about honesty....Greets to You, A.Hole, from Finland! (who ever you are)

I have visited those pages. But I thought that in Germany you guys no these things better! The Car is German.. Therefore I made this assumption. And also the popularity of Corrado is greater, I think
-
I appreciate the effort! Thank you Pe! That's all for now!

What I meant about those 225 tires is how well there is space to use those with 9" rimms. Do they fit in the wheel arch, cause they are wider? Of course they can be installed over 9" rimms.
Actually I got list about tires what can be used with Borbet R model when the size is 9X16. I dont know is Borbet T similar to R model that you could use the following list...
215/40R16:
Dunlop: sp 8000, sp2040
Continental: Conti Sport Contact
Bridgestone: B530, s-01
Yokohama: A510, A520
Goodyear: Eagle F1
GT: Champiro HPZ 40 -
Thanks for answering!
Actually I allready ordered a set of used rimms. Borbet T 9x16, et15. Also tires came along, 215/40. Still few things puzzles me. Here in Finland it is not allowed, by the book, use 215 mm wide tires on 9" wide rimms. 225 mm is actually a minimum. I know that there exist few tire manufacturers that allow this combination, but not all. Therefore it would be good to know does 225 fit? Never heard that something has happened if 9" & 215 is used but still.
One more thing: how much you can lower your car with 9x16, et 15, 215/40? Without any body mods.?
