1990 corrado BIG problems

  • Our 1990 Corrado is dead!

Has not breathed since since the battery popped its caps. While driving we heard a noice on the hood, and imediately the idiot lights went on and then the engine stalled, and went dead. Towed it home.

apparently an over voltage situation. Any ideas, how damage this has caused?

There is voltage to one side of the coil, but no spark. We found one relay that was fried. The engine will turn over, but no life.
Our mechanic gave up after one month!

    Help!

    PS
Sorry about the language thing, I am desparate and didn't see any english!

  • Hi!

Looks like you've blown your Digifant control unit with some extra volts...
That may happen if your generator produces more Voltage than your electrical system may take. You have to change the voltage regulator at the back side of the generator (small black piece of plastic attached with 2 screws)

You even have to buy a new battery and try to get a digifant control unit - maybe you may borrow one of a friend - just for a test.

Replace the battery, voltage regulator and control unit - try to start the engine - it should start without problems...

But you might have damaged additional electrical things like radio a.s.o.

For additional questions - email me
